Like an early morning hike just as the sun peeks over the mountains, this coffee feels fresh, vibrant, and full of possibility. Crisp air, golden light, and that quiet moment before the day gets busy—this cup is all about starting off on the right foot.
The Details
This washed-process coffee is grown at about 4,900–5,600 ft by smallholder farmers in southern Tanzania near the village of Itumpi. Coffee cherries are delivered daily to the Itumpi AMCOS washing station, where they are carefully pulped, sorted by density and quality through washing channels, and soaked in fermentation tanks for 8–10 hours to remove remaining mucilage. The coffee is then dried on raised beds for 7–10 days until ideal moisture levels are reached, resulting in a clean and vibrant cup.

Tanzania sits at a fascinating crossroads in coffee history, influenced by both Ethiopia—the birthplace of coffee—and neighboring Kenya, known for its vibrant cup profiles. Even more surprising, some of Tanzania’s earliest coffee-growing communities, including the Haya people, didn’t brew coffee at all—they chewed the coffee fruit as a source of energy. Today, Tanzania is gaining recognition for beautifully clean, complex coffees that showcase East Africa at its best.
