Its Nerdy Side The Kyalhumba washing station is a member of the Bukonzo Joint Coop situated in the Rwenzori mountains. This certified organic and fair trade coffee is processed after picking using small pulpers to depulp coffee cherries before dry fermenting in buckets for 12-13 hours, bucket washing the coffee to remove the mucilage, and finally drying the parchment on raised beds for three to four weeks until it reaches 12% moisture.
Enjoy floral, grapefruit, melon, chocolate in this medium roast.
What's Cool One of the reasons our coffee partner believes the Bokonzo Joint Coop has been so successful is the group’s use of an inclusive methodology, called GALS (for Gender Action Learning Systems), in all of their activities, to ensure equal participation by both men and women in the coffee value chain and in their decision-making from the household through to the cooperative level. In 2015, the Coop won the Specialty Coffee Associations Sustainability Award for this work.
